If you haven’t heard the news, I’ve got something big to share with you. The Fast and the Fabulous has been included in the spanking new NASCAR Citizen Journalists Media Corps!
I am very, very honored to be apart of this group and apart of this smart, super cool and timely initiative by NASCAR. It means a lot to me to be recognized by the sport I cover and for them to respect what I do literally means the world to me. I must be doing something right, right? (more…)
Poor Juan Pablo Montoya, the win was in his sights, it was right there and then he’s caught speeding on pit road by barely anything and it’s all over. No win for you Juan Pablo!
The rule is what it is, there’s nothing to dispute. Although I have to think there’s gotta be a way to make the process that drivers go through to set their pit road speed for each race better than what it is today. Pit road speed varies at each race track and drivers mark the pit road speed in their cars before the start of the race based on the speed the pace car sets. It seems like that leaves everyone open to a lot of room for error. It just seems like technology-wise there’s gotta be a way to make that more precise. (more…)
Yes, folks the rumors are true. Jamie McMurray did indeed marry his longtime girlfriend Christy Futrell over the July 18-19 weekend. The couple didn’t make a press release and there are no plans to do so at this time, hence the reason I have no details of said nuptials.
Congrats to the newlyweds!
Now this is the kind of news I like to report. One of my fave things to do on a Saturday afternoon is to read wedding announcements in the local newspaper. They are the single girl’s sports page, ya know.
You’ll notice that I haven’t said boo about Jeremy Mayfield’s drug test issues, mostly because it’s so freaking depressing.
Weddings and babies are so much more positive and hopeful. Hearing some dude call his stepmother a whore is not.
Congratulations to Scott and Amanda Speed who were married this past Saturday, July 18th in North Carolina. I love the wedding photo, don’t you?
In the months and weeks leading up to the Toyota/SaveMart 350 at Infineon Raceway I spoke to my co-worker/friend Dawn about the big event. This was the third year in a row that she’d attended the NASCAR race weekend in Sonoma with a super large group of people, about 20-30 (although this year the group dwindled to 10 because of the race falling on Father’s Day). They start tailgating at 6am and don’t stop until well after the race is over, usually around 8pm. (more…)
So I think I now understand why Jimmie Johnson grew his beard. He wanted to look sufficiently tough for his new self help DVD.
