NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Danica Patrick talks about running races in February at Auto Club Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2010 in the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Thursday at JR Motorsports in Mooresville, N.C. (Photo Credit: Jason Smith/Getty Images)It’s only been days since Danica Patrick announced her deal with JR Motorsports to run part-time in the Nationwide series and I’m already done.

The only thing I’d like to read about less would be the latest skank to come out and say she slept with Tiger Woods. (Why would you admit that you slept with a married man? I don’t understand that at all)

It’s kind of hard for me to reconcile my feelings about all of the hubbub surrounding Danica. On the one hand as a female, I’m all for supporting another woman, but I think it should be noted that just because she is a woman doesn’t mean that I’m going to run out and by any and all Danica gear for that same reason.

I support all people, male or female, in their pursuit of their dreams. If you want to be a race car driver and you want to be the best all the better for you, go for it.

But she’s not NASCAR’s savior, and I didn’t know that NASCAR needed one to be perfectly honest with you. I think that NASCAR does a good job of staying true to itself and rolling with the times. NASCAR will never be the NFL or MLB, and it should never try to be like them. If someone is curious and willing to check out NASCAR they will. Trying to create hype around a person who’s going to have the same learning curve as everyone else isn’t going to triple your fan base overnight.

She didn’t do it for IndyCar, why should NASCAR be any different?

Obviously this is a huge opportunity for her personally; she can make a buttload of money and not even win anything.

I have no beef with Danica, she’s doing what she should. My issues lie with the people that are putting way too much on her arrival before she ever gets into a car.

So this is my one and only post about her, unless something really news worthy happens, ya know like if she wins a race or gets into a fist fight with Kyle Busch.
