NASCAR After The Lap started off mostly like last year, with hostess Jamie Little asking the drivers questions submitted by fans. There were a few new wrinkles like some of the fans asking the questions in person, and the drivers walking in through the crowd with Jimmie Johnson making his grand entrance in his No 48 Lowe’s Chevy.

But it wasn’t until Jimmie Johnson said that Clint Bowyer told him he wears his girlfriend’s underwear before races that things got really, really interesting. That set Clint to bring up the fact that all of the drivers had to change out of their firesuits together in an apparently small green room where the he noticed that Kyle Busch wears green undies.

This comment instantly brought to mind this scene from the very funny ABC TV show Modern Family where Ed O’Neill’s character, Jay, changes clothes with his son-in-law, Cameron, in a gym locker room and there’s a “moon landing.” Just watch:

So funny. 🙂

Anyway, I loved the jokes at Jeff Gordon’s expense regarding his new sponsor, AARP, and him being hard of hearing since he seemed to not be able to hear people’s questions a lot of the time. I loved Tony Stewart a little bit more when he called the people on the reality show Jersey Shore “pricks” and could totally relate when he said that watching that show made him feel a whole lot better about himself. Kudos to the fan that asked him which reality show he’d want to be on for bringing all of that out!

NASCAR After the Lap at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV on December 2, 2010 (credit: The fast and the fabulous)I thought that last year’s After the Lap event was awesome, but this was even better. I laughed the entire time. We need to get these guys together more often. I think the guys had extra stuff bottled up because they didn’t get to do a Roast at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway fanfest event like they did last year. I suspect they look forward to this event just as much as we do.

Here’s a video of highlights from the Victory Lap, After the Lap and The Stewies. I didn’t go to the Stewies because I didn’t feel like standing and being crammed in with a bunch of people. So I went to Starbucks and listened to the best of Sheryl Crow on headphones at the bar, while watching the muted Thursday Night Football game. Yea, I know, it was totally random.

And that (finally) concludes day two of Champion’s Week! 🙂
