I met and interviewed Camping World Truck Series driver Matt Crafton during the hauler tour for SYLVANIA during the New Hampshire Motor Speedway race weekend last month. Matt drives the No. 88 Menards Chevrolet for ThorSport Racing. He’s currently 8th in the points standings and hails from Tulare, California which is the same hometown as my brother-in-law. I knew there was a reason why I liked Matt Crafton.

What is your favorite word? Ooh, can’t say that. (laughter) [Me: Yes, you can, Kenny Wallace did.] What did he say? [Me: Fuck.] (laughter) Ah, yea, that’s probably it, fuck. On the radio that’s definitely one. My favorite one in the race car we’ll say. (laughter)
What is your least favorite word? Tight
What turns you on? Good lookin’ blondes
What turns you off? Chicks that smoke
What sound or noise do you love? Motor noise
What sound or noise do you hate? I have a pet peeve, this is going to sound stupid, but a leaking air hose. It was something that we always used to have in our old shop that my dad used to have, you’d always hear it and try to fix it but it was just annoying as hell.
What is your favorite curse word? (See answer for favorite word)
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Good question, actually what I’d really, really like to do is off-road racing. Do some kind of stadium, like, truck racing, like they do off-road buggies and stuff like that. It’s called the CORR Off Road Series. That’d be something really, really cool to do.
What profession would you not like to do? Be a mechanic. I had to do that for a while and that’s probably the least favorite things I liked doing was working on cars–street cars, I should say.
