This is a sort of “bonus” interview I got to do with DeLana Harvick, wife of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver & 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship contender Kevin Harvick, during the Kansas Speedway race weekend last month. You can read my long-form interview with her here.

What is your favorite word? Do I have to be honest? (Me: Yes.) Yeah. Can you use symbols for this? (Me: That was like Kenny Wallace. He was like, “Seriously? Do you want me to say it?” I’m like, “Yeah.” And he said “Fuck!”) That’s my favorite word. I’m honestly embarrassed. I think it’s just laziness on my part. I think having dealt with a lot of men over the last ten years, sometimes you have to get loud a little bit and get in their face, and I think, unfortunately, has become part of my daily vocabulary, and I’m not proud of that but I’m being honest. That’s a word I use a lot.

What is your least favorite word? I would have to say “G.D.” is my least favorite word. I absolutely don’t want to hear that word, ever.

What turns you on? Honesty.

What turns you off? Someone with no backbone.

What sound or noise do you love? The sound of race cars.

What sound or noise do you hate? Birds. I hate the sound of birds.

What is your favorite curse word? [see first question]

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Well, I’d gone to school to be a teacher, so I think I still have that passion. I know that’s not realistic at this point, but probably a teacher.

What profession would you not like to do? I think a nurse or doctor. I admire what they do. I don’t think I have the stomach to do that.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? I’m proud of you.
