“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”

When I sing that song I’m not thinking about Christmas. I don’t get nearly as excited about Christmas as I do about NASCAR’s Champion’s Week in Las Vegas. I enjoy Las Vegas. It’s got everything and you never have to leave your hotel to experience half of it.

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas - Terrace StudioIn general, I’m a fan of hotels and room service — one of my proudest moments as the aunt to three boys was when they told me they love room service (that’s how I knew for sure that we were related). 🙂

So every time I go to Vegas I check-in to a different hotel, they’ve got a ton of ’em so there’s no reason not to experiment. For the first Vegas Champion’s Week I stayed at the Mirage (nice), last year at Aria (supernice) and this year I’m booked at The Cosmopolitan (as seen in the photo above). I couldn’t be more thrilled, it JUST opened at the beginning of this year, and I’m stoked about getting to experience it first-hand. Their tagline “The right amount of wrong” intrigues me, can’t wait to find out if it’s true.

For as much I love Champion’s Week for it’s ability to let me interview a bunch of the top drivers all at once (my hit list for this year is very simple: Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr.), I’m sure that the biggest reason why I love Champion’s Week is because I get the opportunity to dress up. Day-to-day I stick with jeans for the most part, but when the awards banquet rolls around I get to be the lady I know I should be the entire year.

Last year, I wore a black BCBG dress (that I got for a SUPER ridiculous price) with a black shrug, with a bold red lip and classic black-lined eyes. I thought it would be super fun to create an “inspiration board” of what I’m thinking of wearing this year. I’m on the fence about buying a new dress since I only wear these things once a year (and really, who’s looking at me?) so why bother getting something else. I thought about pairing the black dress from last year with a red cardigan, and then doing a smokey (with red highlights) eye. But my M.O. is to go shopping over the post-Thanksgiving holiday weekend (on Sunday morning as early as possible), so if I find something I love I might change it up.
