(in no particular order):

1.) People who write articles/posts wondering if Dale Earnhardt Jr. is overrated. Shut up already! The only reason you’re posing that question is to get traffic. It’s a lame question to ask, it’s tired, it’s old, get over it. Who really cares anyway?? I mean, really? Does it matter? No. Is Dale going to read it and say, “Wow, I’m so overrated. I should stop racing.” People love Dale, they’re always going to love him and you’re just mad Jay-Z didn’t ask you to be in his music video.

2.) Chris Myers on FOX. He’s just kind of annoying.

3.) TV broadcasters sugar coating real problems or avoiding them altogether. I know the dudes that are paid to talk about NASCAR on TV aren’t saying the kind of stuff that they really want to say. The nugget that was DW’s off camera remark about racing after Daytona illustrates my point completely. Don’t you ever get the feeling they’re holding back?

4.) Interviews with Jimmie Johnson. He’s boring, but the scruffy beard is a nice touch.

5.) The fact that Carl Edwards is a married man. What am I supposed to daydream about during my meetings at work?? Sheesh.

Things have been slow around here lately, mostly because the offseason has been devoted to silly season dealings that have conspired to irritate the hell out of me. However, there have been a couple new developments as it relates to me personally and I’m delighted to share them with you.

I will be contributing to the Yahoo! Sports NASCAR blog From The Marbles sporadically throughout the year. Yea, I’m so excited about this opportunity. It’s going to be fun to share my brand of NASCAR talk with more and more people. Check out my first post regarding Jimmie Johnson and his finger issues.

So that’s what’s happening in the online world, but when it comes to print I’m still contributing to NASCAR Pole Position magazine. The new wrinkle for this year is that the publication will now be distributed in all 36 markets. So no matter which race you go to this year you’ll be able to get a free copy of NASCAR Pole Position which will include my column.

I cannot wait to write about the season to come, it’s going to be soooo much fun.

Last Thursday night NASCAR drivers, a smattering of celebrities and regular people gathered at Marquee, a super hot nightclub in New York City, to celebrate NASCAR Sprint Cup Champions Week.

Thanks to the great people at Guest of a Guest there are photos from the shindig to share. I’ve got some here but you can see ALL of them over at Guest of a Guest here and here.

My only note about this soiree is that I think that NASCAR should seriously ponder moving the Champions Week festivities to different locations each year, preferably Las Vegas, San Francisco or Los Angeles as I am close to all of those areas.

The celebs in attendance ranged from Rikki Lake to that one guy who was on Ally McBeal who loved women with “wattles” to Samantha Ronson and non-lesbian-lesbian Lindsay Lohan.

I finally sat down and watched the NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards ceremony and I have come up with a list of all of the things that I want in an awards ceremony broadcast. Here’s the list in no particular order:

1.) Speeches: All I want to see are the speeches. I do not want to watch a comedy routine or a popular musical artist perform (even though I am a Matchbox 20 fan). I have Comedy Central and MTV for those things. I just want to hear and see the top ten drivers give their congrats to the Champion, recite the names of their sponsors and thank the fans. Boom, done. I have no idea what Jimmie Johnson said in his speech because my Tivo cut off right as the Sprint CEO was introducing him. Oops.

2.) Who brought who: I want to now who the single drivers & crew members brought as their dates. More specifically I wanna know who that woman was who showed up with Chad Knaus. What happened to his apparently ex-fiancee Bruna Oliveira?

3.) Who wore what: I want more than 3 second shots of the women from the neck up. I want full-length shots of their gowns. You know they put a lot of thought into what they were going to wear and it’s a shame for us to not get the chance to see them.

So that’s all I’ve got and that’s all I want. NASCAR should take note for next year.

I have to give huge props to Rick Hendrick for joking about Kyle Busch acting like he’s 18 sometimes, ah that was priceless, best moment of the night.

And to all of the drivers who thanked the fans, you’re welcome.

When they cut to a shot of Tom Cruise during the show I thought my head was going to explode. It just seemed so… random.

I usually dig what Chandra wears but I didn’t like this pink, fluffy thing; it’s not doing anything good for her body. I’m just sayin’.

It’s day two of the Champions Week festivities in New York City and I’m already sick of Jimmie Johnson.

LOL. I’m just kidding. Although with the elimination of the “Victory Lap” parade through Times Square you don’t get to see the other Top-12 drivers that much, so you get the feeling that it’s very “All Jimmie all the time” this week.

That’s all very well and makes sense because he is the Champion after all, but still, you couldn’t get Carl Edwards in the mix a little bit? Maybe you do a photo of him pretending to hit Jimmie over the head with the Sprint Cup trophy and then running off with it. Oh! Or you could have a photo of Jimmie posing with the trophy in Central Park with Carl and Greg Biffle standing way off in the background looking pissed. That’d be fun.

So today is the first in a series of posts that will more than likely feature photos of Jimmie and his wife Chandra, hitting up event after event this week.

On this Friday, December 5th ESPN Classic will air the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony live at 9pm EST. Check your local listings. I’ve already got my Tivo set! If you miss it on Friday, don’t worry they’re replaying it on Monday, December 8th at 2pm EST on ESPN2.
