dale jr. wins at daytona and on facebook

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - JULY 02: Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the Wrangler Chevrolet, hugs crew chief Tony Eury Jr. in victory lane after winning the NASCAR Nationwide Series Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway on July 2, 2010 in Daytona Beach, Florida. (Photo by Rusty Jarrett/Getty Images for NASCAR)Dale Earnhardt Jr. won last night’s Nationwide Series race, the Subway Jalapeno 250 Powered by Coca-Cola, driving the No. 3 Wrangler Chevrolet. It was a huge moment and a great night, a fitting tribute to Dale Earnhardt.

I couldn’t sit down for the last 10 laps! The best part for me was Tony Eury Jr.’s (Dale Jr’s crew chief) reaction to the win. Seeing him dip his head and become emotional made me cry. I know that there’s some redemption value for Dale Jr. with this win but I think it’s bigger for Tony Eury Jr. Especially since he and Dale no longer work together on the #88 team in the Sprint Cup Series. It felt like it meant so much more to see them win together again, to prove that they could do it after all this time.

So, in addition to last night Dale racked up another win of a different kind. He won the bet between him, Dwight Howard, BJ Upton and Reggie Bush in the adidas “Every Team Needs a Fan” contest. He gathered the most fans for the US soccer team and so Dwight, BJ and Reggie all had to wear Dale’s gear. See the video below. I love those shirts. I want one!

Photo fun time!

This sucked, I really hope Jennifer Jo Cobb can get something together so she can continue to run races in the Nationwide Series this year!

dale jr. did what now?

David Ragan, Clint Bowyer, Scott SpeedTomorrow is day one of the Toyota/SaveMart 350 at Infineon Raceway. I’m super excited because I’ve got some cool stuff lined up and I can’t wait to write about ‘em and share it all with you guys.

Today I attend the press luncheon (photo evidence at left) where Clint Bowyer, David Ragan and Scott Speed were in attendance. They held a short press conference and answered questions. Afterwards I happened to be sharing an elevator with Scott and his PR person and I introduced myself. Scott was very nice, I think he dug the name of this blog.
:)

In other news…

Dale Earnhardt Jr. really enjoys the soccer. Check out this video of him prepping for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This also serves as my friendly reminder to vote for Dale EVERYDAY (put a sticky note on your computer if you have to), over at facebook.com/adidasSoccer (click on the World Cup Fans tab) so that Dwight Howard, Reggie Bush and BJ Upton will have to wear Dale Jr’s gear. We’re almost there!

dale jr. fans: their dedication is serious

adidas JR Nation apparel launch in DaytonaNo, really, serious.

Dale Earnhardt. Jr.’s new adidas JR Nation gear went on sale Friday at the Sports Authority in Daytona, Florida. Before I share these photos with you let me just say that Dale was not actually at the store. It was just the clothes, clothes that will be on sale and available for the foreseeable future. No joke, people camped out. Now, I am a Dale Jr. fan too — I’m already having anxiety attacks about the race tomorrow — but I’m not camping out to buy clothes. However, that being said, I do think it’s cool that there are people out there that are that dedicated and wanted to get the new stuff the second it was available.

The big line outside of the Sports Authority in Daytona

Excited NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fans began lining up at 10:30 p.m. outside Sports Authority in Daytona, Fla. on Thursday night, February 14 to be among the first to purchase the new adidas JR Nation fan gear. UPDATE: And now with video!

new adidas jr nation gear on sale soon

adidas JR Nation Womens V-Neck Fleece Top UPDATE: I’m sorry but I got the dates wrong, the JR Nation apparel will go on sale first on February 15th at the Sports Authority in Daytona, FL.

Thanks to Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the folks at adidas I just might start working out again. I could stand to lose a couple LBs.

I’ve been able to check out his new line of adidas JR Nation apparel and I’m totally diggin it. I’ve never been a fan of those classic racing shirts that have ginormous logos, text and tons of colors. I like to keep things simple and subdued. And this line of jackets, sweats and shirts does all of that. Plus the JR Nation colors are orange and black, which also happens to be the colors of my old high school (Go You Mighty Pirates!). All of the items use the adidas ClimaCool system that Dale will be using in his new racing suit. Basically it helps keep moisture away from your body when you sweat to keep you dry and comfortable when you’re huffing and puffing on the field or basement treadmill.

Here are a few of the pieces I’m thinking about purchasing once they go on sale in Junior’s store on the Sports Authority website. Here’s the URL (http://www.sportsauthority.com/88) to the JR Nation homepage, just remember that the page won’t go live until tomorrow, February 8th.

There is stuff for guys too, hoodies, polos, etc. but there’s this baseball jersey too that I think should be a big seller.
